Egypt Without Disease (EWD) organisation established a hemodialysis unit in upper Egypt in Naga Hammadi.
Light For All Switzerland had the opportunity to support the operation of the hemodialysis unit in Naga Hammadi, Qena Governorate, aiming to improve the health and well-being of residents, particularly those suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD).
This initiative is focused on
Enhancing the quality and efficiency of tertiary healthcare services in this underprivileged rural area of Upper Egypt
Contributing to the broader goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and social justice in healthcare.
The hemodialysis unit, equipped
Nine dialysis machines, plays a crucial role in managing CKD patients and reducing the complications associated with the disease.
Each machine operates three shifts per day, providing essential treatment for approximately 60 patients monthly, with an average of 597 dialysis sessions each month.
This ongoing support ensures that patients receive the care they need, with each individual receiving around 13 dialysis sessions per month.
